As part of the Studio Technology organization, you will join a group of seasoned technologists dedicated to solving a range of creative problems through innovation, strategy, and forward thinking. This role sits within the Motion Picture Technology at Walt Disney Studios, which is a group of specialty film making labs providing production services, research, development, innovation, and support required for civilized filmmaking.

What You Will Do:

As a Workflow and Imaging Technology Intern, you’ll assist with the development, testing, and support of image processing workflows used across film and television production. Working alongside the Image & Color Engineering team, you’ll gain hands-on experience with on-set capture validation, dailies color workflows, VFX review pipelines, and finishing color management. This internship offers exposure to the full image lifecycle — from camera capture through final master — while supporting active productions across The Walt Disney Studios. You’ll report to the Director of Image and Color Engineering.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Image & Color and Workflow Engineering teams in developing and testing end-to-end image and color workflows used across film production.

  • Assist in evaluating and prototyping AI/ML tools for image, video, and audio processing.

  • Help test and validate camera debayer and image processing pipelines within the Motion Picture Plates Lab.

  • Contribute to color management setup and testing for studio review systems such as RV and DaVinci Resolve.

  • Collaborate with engineers and artists to gather requirements, document findings, and help translate R&D concepts into production-ready tools.

  • Research and present emerging technologies in imaging, color science, computer vision, and generative AI relevant to studio workflows.

  • Participate in experimental and exploratory testing to help improve creative and technical production tools.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Familiarity with image processing concepts, color management, or visual effects workflows.

  • Interest in tools and platforms such as DaVinci Resolve, Nuke, Avid, Premiere, After Effects, or Baselight.

  • Exposure to or curiosity about ACES, OpenColorIO, and modern color pipelines.

  • Basic understanding of or interest in machine learning and its applications in imaging or media production.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn from creative and technical mentors.

  • Enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and proactive in exploring new imaging and color technologies.

Education:

  • Junior or Senior year preferred

  • Major or previous coursework in in Film Production, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Image Science, or a related technical field.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

The pay rate for this role in Burbank, CA is $38.00 per hour.
