DESCRIPTION

Pontera is seeking a detail-oriented and highly reliable Temporary Payroll Administrator to join our People Operations team on a part-time basis (~20 hours per week) from December 22 through February 2026, with the possibility of extension. In this role, you will serve as Pontera’s payroll expert, responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing in Paylocity and for supporting employees with payroll-related questions.

You will ensure payroll accuracy across exempt and non-exempt populations, maintain data integrity, and partner with employees and managers to deliver a smooth and exceptional payroll experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is confident owning payroll end-to-end with minimal oversight.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll Processing

  • Ensure accurate and timely semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll processing in Paylocity for assigned employee groups.
  • Validate timecards, including hours worked, overtime, variable pay, and PTO balances prior to payroll submission.
  • Process ad-hoc payroll adjustments (retro pay, corrections, garnishments, reimbursements, bonuses) with 100% accuracy.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to prevent errors that may impact pay, taxes, or benefits.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all payroll compliance regulations.

Systems, Reporting & Data Integrity

  • Use Paylocity Payroll & Onboarding modules with at least 1 year of hands-on experience.
  • Run, analyze, and export payroll reports, including pre-payroll, tax liability, and deduction summaries.
  • Use Excel to organize, audit, and present payroll data clearly and accurately.
  • Ensure accurate syncing and data alignment between Paylocity and HiBob (preferred).

Communication & Employee Support

  • Serve as Pontera’s primary payroll point of contact, responding promptly and professionally to employee inquiries via Slack and email.
  • Provide guidance to employees on Paylocity self-service features (pay statements, tax forms, direct deposit updates).
  • Partner with managers to ensure timely timecard approvals and adherence to payroll policies.
  • Escalate complex issues to the HRBP, Accounting, or Paylocity Support as needed.
  • Meet all payroll deadlines with dependability and minimal supervision.
  • Manage sensitive data with discretion and professionalism at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Payroll processing experience for both exempt and non-exempt employees within the U.S.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Paylocity (minimum 1 year required).
  • Experience with HiBob as an HRIS is strongly preferred.
  • Strong math, data entry, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week, consistently, within EST hours.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage responsibilities in a part-time environment.
  • Familiarity with New York State payroll regulations is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort supporting employees via Slack.
  • Demonstrated dependability, confidentiality, and ownership of tasks.
