About Technology Enterprise Recovery and Resilience Team.

This role will form a critical part of the Technology Enterprise Resilience team which resides within the Enterprise Resilience function to ensure the effective implementation and ongoing oversight of our Critical & Important Business Services, supporting continuous improvement initiatives in line with our strategic objectives and regulatory expectations. This role will work closely with business & technology partners across the firm globally.

About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Technology Resilience and Recovery Engineer with a specific focus on technology platforms (Compute Infrastructure / IaaS Cloud / Storage) to strengthen our technology platforms’ ability to withstand, recover, and adapt to disruption. This role focuses on engineering resilience into our infrastructure, Cloud IaaS, and network connectivity, ensuring that critical technology services remain reliable and compliant with evolving regulatory expectations.
You will operate at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and operational excellence, embedding resilience across our technology landscape and driving continuous improvement in our readiness for severe and plausible disruptions.

This role requires a blend of deep technical knowledge and strategic resilience expertise, applying a resilience and risk lens across the full technology stack. You will assess, design, and continuously improve resilience capabilities across infrastructure, platforms, and services — leveraging data, evidence, and testing to identify vulnerabilities, measure resilience posture, and drive improvement.

 Core areas of focus are as follows:

  • Act as a consultative SME that will engineer and drive embedding of resilient thinking across technology – with focus on:
    • Current and emerging regulation
    • Ability to respond to events such as severe ransomware events, core technology failures, 3rd party & Nth party outages
    • Market events & response approaches
    • Will be able to design and architect resilience solutions & outcomes in line with our organisations appetite
  • As an SME understand severe but plausible and offer technology designs and approaches to mitigate and work with SME’s to implement solutions
  • Work with our testing teams to drive proficient conrols / resilience testing
  • Using your in-depth technology skills, drive the embedding of resilience in our technology
  • Engage with technology practioners to build and engineer
    • Implement designs and approaches to ensure our workloads are resilient
    • Test / evaluate emerging & implemented technology solutions
    • Work with enterprise architects and designers to consult and drive resilience in our tech DNA
  • Work with key and senior stake holders across technology and the business to drive our ability to respond to disruption and continue to run without breaching our impact tolerances / causing significant customer harm
  • Drive and embed techniques to automate testing and gather data for analysis to iterate
  • Horizon scanning of the technology and threat space to understand where we need to prioritise and focus our efforts
  • Understand and produce and maintain key Power BI metrics and dashboards to provide insights into the health and performance of our operational resilience initiatives.
  • Understand and interpret regulations related to operational resilience and ensure we drive technology compliance
  • Implement, manage, and improve the technology operational resilience procedures , data & tooling across all critical or important business services (“CIBS”), ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Have worked in technology roles and have an excellent grasp of infrastructure, application deployment, cloud (IaaS & SaaS) and approaches to monitoring / observability
  • Excellent understanding of technology resilience practices / approaches / Engineering of
    • On Premise
    • IaaS Cloud (AWS / Azure)
    • SaaS Cloud
    • Vmware
    • Storage Technologies
  • Deep understanding of connectivity / networks and approaches to zero trust approaches
  • In depth knowledge of born in cloud application development - and driving resilience in-design
  • Understands CI/CD Pipeline technologies and best practices in conjunction with development
  • Great engineering awareness and good practices
  • Hae worked with and understand how to drive suppliers / 3rd parties for resilient outcomes
  • Advanced knowledge of Operational Resiliency regulatory requirements & the implications on technology
  • Excellent understanding of Critical & Important Business Services – and technology mapping
  • Ability to work with and manipulate data to drive decision making
  • Good working knowledge of technology demands around resilience and reguliation - ie - FCA, PRA, DORA regulation in context of resilience and technology responses
  • Understanding of the cyber threat landscape along wirh severe but plausible scenarios we should consider
  • Whitepaper / discussion paper / high level PPT generation to articulate direction & responses to problem statements
  • Strong detail focus, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicates with influence and is comfortable engaging at all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent presentation skills – able to walk through both detail and high level overvirews
  • Can challenge narrow thinking in a collaborative way and show “other ways”
  • Demonstrates resilience, adaptability and good judgement
  • Works collaboratively and leverages individual talents in support of company practices and goals
  • Exhibits personal responsibility and accountability to maintain high standards by continually seeking opportunities to increase efficiency and quality of existing work processes, methods, and systems
