The Opportunity
This position works out of our Portland, OR location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
This role maintains facilities, facilities systems and equipment in order to provide a safe, efficient and comfortable workplace. Responsibilities include operation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all building facilities and equipment; move and installation of equipment and or furniture; and other related duties. Expert level only: Provides validation technical assistance to engineering to support manufacturing efforts by implementing corrective and preventative actions. Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve Facilities processes. Assists in execution of facility and utility validations.
What You’ll Work On
•Responsibilities include, isolated room certification, room air balancing, project review, and blueprint review, review facilities documents.
•Provides manufacturing support by reviewing and analyzing environmental data to determine manufacturing issues and trends.
•May also train technicians on processes and engineering changes and perform operator certification on-the-job training and testing.
•Sets up and operate all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
•Identifies, resolves and prevents facilities issues by determining root cause and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
•Develop knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures.
•Identify and resolve systemic issues based on trends noted during review of non-conforming EMS.
•Makes routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine installations, repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
•Works with manufacturing or process engineering in the installation and/or operation of CR required for production processes.
•Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, equipment installation and reports problems to supervisor's or project managers.
•Works with outside contractors on new construction, equipment installation, and types of equipment to be used.
• Works with EHS division representatives to comply with division safety and environmental requirements.
Knowledge of more than one of the construction trades, carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, sheet metal fabrication, welding, construction, repair, and/or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures.
•Interprets blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and review design specifications.
•Develops and implements process improvements by researching and validating changes in process equipment and test methods to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time per established procedures.
•Provides input to engineering pertaining to qualification, validation studies, reports, collecting, compiling, measuring, organizing, recording data, and by writing procedures.
•Participate in new facility design teams to provide validation and facilities technical input.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
8+ years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Associates/ Bachelors Degree preferred
Facilities and Safety certifications
Manufacturing environment experience

The base pay for this position is
$27.65 – $55.35/hourIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
