About the Role

Workday is looking for a Support Engineer specializing in Analytics and Reporting with expertise in troubleshooting, performance optimization, and data analysis across Workday’s reporting and analytics services. The ideal candidate has a proven foundation in big data processing, data transformation, and reporting frameworks, with the ability to diagnose and resolve sophisticated issues by analyzing logs, performance metrics, and system integrations.

This role requires query performance tuning, data pipeline debugging, and structured troubleshooting methodologies to support Workday’s analytics solutions. Strong data modeling, log analysis, and problem-solving skills combined with clear, effective communication are important for success in this role.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide sophisticated technical support for Workday analytics tools (Report Writer, Prism Analytics, People Analytics, Discovery Boards, Accounting Center and Office Connect for Financial Management), with focus on configuration, performance, indexing, memory, and system health.
  • Become a subject-matter guide to drive high-performance reporting and data solutions.
  • Partner with customers to translate business requirements into optimized reports and configurations that improve performance, accuracy, and system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot report, performance, integration, and memory issues using log analysis, query tuning, and pipeline investigation.
  • Advise and guide customers in building, modifying, and optimizing scalable reports with strong data integrity.
  • Educate users on reporting, security, and data governance best practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering to resolve data quality, security, and performance issues.
  • Contribute to documentation, QA, and performance optimization of analytics tools.
  • Participate in 24×7 global support rotation.

About You

Key Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or similar.
  • 3+ years in customer support, system performance, or data analytics, ideally with big data / AI-driven analytics.
  • Experience with large-scale data platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop), including pipeline build and distributed processing.
  • Hands-on experience with sophisticated reporting and AI-powered analytics tools, including use of frameworks such as Spark for data transformations.
  • Strong SQL skills for sophisticated querying, tuning, and performance improvement.
  • Proven ability to map business requirements to analytics solutions and AI insights.
  • Understanding of data architecture (data lakes, ETL, streaming).
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret sophisticated data and use big data / AI tools to improve products and reporting performance.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Are you being referred to one of our roles? If so, ask your connection at Workday about our Employee Referral process!
