A Technical Project Manager plays an integral role in the successful design, deployment, and adoption of technical solutions to better serve our data science and analytics partners. This role will support the Personal Insurance organization as part of the AI Platform -- Process & Innovation team. This team enables efficient and robust data science and AI processes by developing, maintaining, and innovating the core packages, capabilities, standards, and best practices within our data science practice.

As a Technical Project Manager you will be expected to build relationships and partner with stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions are addressing business problems as intended and achieving the expected value. You will identify gaps and opportunities in existing processes and devise new or improved technical solutions to identify risks, enhance processes, and increase operational efficiency. Additionally, this role provides tactical support to the team by driving project execution, roadmaps, and regular updates to partners and stakeholders. The ability to take detailed technical output and highlight key findings, results, and recommendations to our partners is fundamental to project success. 

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office should maintain their current work arrangement with the expectation of coming into the office as business needs arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnership, Adoption, and Communication

    • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment and drive solution adoption.

    • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units, ensuring solutions address real business problems and deliver expected value.

    • Work with internal customers to identify opportunities to enhance, evolve, or reuse existing assets or develop new assets that could add operational and business value.

    • Execute well-designed communication plans tailored to audiences ranging from technical peers to business stakeholders of various levels.

  • Project Execution and Tactical Support

    • Assist with the creation and maintenance of asset documentation, artifacts, and usage guides.

    • Provide hands-on support to data science teams by managing project roadmaps, execution timelines, request backlog, and stakeholder updates.

    • Support the development and implementation of critical operating routines and agile practices.

    • Identify gaps and opportunities in current operating routines and champion ideas to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in business consulting, analytic or machine learning product management, software development product management, or strategic/analytical roles highly desired.

  • Agile and Scrum Master experience highly desired.

  • Proficiency in impactful storytelling, communication, and relationship-building across a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Comfortable with working on novel, ambiguous business problems with no clear-cut solutions while flexing different roles to achieve project success.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and to set priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives.

  • Experience in leveraging Microsoft tools to develop compelling visuals articulating complex analytical topics.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, python packaging, data science concepts, and cloud computing is a plus.

  • Exposure to Generative AI capabilities (and limitations) and use-cases is a plus.

  • Domain knowledge in Insurance and KPIs is a plus.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$92,480 - $138,720
