An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Planner within the Defence Assembly & Test Maintenance Repair and Overhaul team. The role will be based in the Defence Aerospace Operations Facility in Bristol. As a Technical Planner, you will play a crucial role in an integrated operations team, planning and executing the delivery of critical customer requirements. The successful candidate will need to have a strong customer management focus, a proven track record in project delivery and the ability to operate in a complex environment.

What you will be doing

  • Conduct short- and medium-term load/capacity planning for the value stream ensuring live “in-year” plans are delivered.
  • Create and maintain output plans which are aligned with supply chain commitments to schedule and prioritise work through the value stream.
  • Ensure that any supply chain or capacity risks which have the potential to impact on delivery are identified, prioritised, and escalated where required.
  • Create, review and report on, the performance of the area, in terms of Cost, Delivery and Headcount.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure plans are achieved and the business operates smoothly. Be the voice of operations into other areas of the business (i.e., Programmes, procurement, and shipping) to ensure output and input plans are aligned and delivered on time.

  • You will have a reasonable level of knowledge and experience of SAP, Microsoft Office tools and a willingness to learn new tools & techniques
  • A team player who can work in a fast-paced operations environment and is prepared to support others in achieving and owning a common goal.
  • Networking across business groups and developing key relationships is critical to this role and therefore you will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to easily build rapport within all levels of the organisation.
  • Highly organised with the ability to change pace and direction in response to emergent issues, remain calm under changing circumstances and deal positively with uncertainty and ambiguity.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be Staff Grade 7 - 10.
