About the role

  • Play a central role in delivering high-quality Molecular Pathology services across St Vincent’s Hospital, SydPath collection centres, and other major clients, ensuring patient-focused care at every step.

  • Perform hands-on laboratory testing with accuracy and efficiency, producing reliable results that directly support critical clinical decisions.

  • Maintain and optimise laboratory equipment and supplies, keeping operations smooth, safe, and fully compliant with quality standards.

  • Communicate urgent and critical results promptly to clinicians, enabling timely interventions and supporting excellent patient outcomes.

  • Uphold quality assurance and strict patient confidentiality, contributing to a professional, ethical, and high-performing laboratory environment.

About you

  • Holds relevant tertiary qualifications in a scientific or technical field, ready to apply knowledge in a pathology setting.

  • Experienced in DNA/RNA extraction and molecular techniques, including specimen prep for PCR-based assays and next-generation sequencing.

  • Flexible and reliable, willing to work shifts and adapt to the roster to keep the unit running smoothly.

  • Delivers tasks accurately and efficiently, while stepping up to support other duties when needed.

  • Communicates clearly and works collaboratively, contributing positively to a high-performing lab team.
