We're looking for an experienced and highly skilled Lead Network/Storage Engineer to join our core technology team. In this hybrid role, you will be the primary expert responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our enterprise data storage solutions and the underlying network infrastructure that supports them. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern storage technologies, including container storage and cloud object storage, combined with a strong foundation in network engineering principles like routing and switching. You will be instrumental in ensuring our data is secure, highly available, and accessible at peak performance.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in large-scale, mission-critical networks. This role requires a solid background in storage networks, and a good understanding of data center technologies, firewalls, and load balancers. You will support our current infrastructure and will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure the stability of our critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experienced with configuring and managing Cisco MDS or Brocade storage switches.
  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, high-performance storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and object storage systems.
  • Implement and support a variety of storage protocols, including NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and NVME over Fibre Channel.
  • Develop scripts and utilize automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform) to streamline storage provisioning, management, and network configurations.
  • Proactively monitor storage and network health, conduct capacity planning, and perform system upgrades to meet evolving business needs.
  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches and routers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for storage-related traffic—Troubleshoot complex network and storage performance issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior team members, establishing best practices for both storage and network operations.
  • Part of a team of network engineers in the day-to-day operations and 24/7 support of our global enterprise network, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) and uptime targets are met.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in a senior role focused on enterprise storage and/or network engineering.
  • Storage Protocols: Extensive hands-on experience with NFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel.
  • Experience with Cloud networking/storage technologies
  • Networking Knowledge: understanding of core networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing (BGP), and switching.
  • Vendor Experience: Experience with enterprise-grade storage and networking hardware (e.g., NetApp, Pure Storage, Cisco).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco certification, NetApp NCDA, SNIA).
  • Scripting skills for automation of storage-related tasks (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools for storage provisioning (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with data backup and disaster recovery solutions.
