Title: Technical Lead
Clearance: Public Trust (Level 6)
Location: Remote – Washington DC Metro Area
Salary Range: $200,000 - $279,000
Overview:
Agile Defense is an award-winning national security company looking for a Technical Lead to support our contract with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
This candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be adaptive to the changing needs of the organization. This candidate must have experience with building and maintaining highly effective relationships with team members and multiple stakeholders across multiple projects. The Technical Lead is responsible for guiding the engineering team, driving technical excellence, and lead the development of innovative software solutions. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills, empowering teams to deliver high-quality products that scale. The ideal candidate for this position will excel in a fast-paced government contractor environment and be adaptive to the changing needs of the organization.

Responsibilities/Duties:
· Lead, mentor, and support team of engineers in design, development, testing and deployment.
· Architect and implement scalable, robust, and secure software solutions.
· Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and product roadmaps.
· Review code, ensure best practices, and enforce engineering standards.
· Identify and resolve technical risks and roadblocks.
· Conduct system analysis and performance tuning to optimize applications and platforms.
· Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and workflows.
· Provide technical guidance in technology selection, architecture decisions, and system integrations.
· Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
· Lead technical planning, estimation and prioritization activities.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 10+ years of experience in technical leadership or senior engineering roles.
· 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
· Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript
· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development practices.
· Proven leadership ability and experience managing and onboarding a team of engineers.
· Experience designing and scaling distributed systems.
· Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud infrastructure.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on teamwork and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:
· USCIS or DHS experience
