Monks seeks an experienced technology leader to oversee a team of architects, engineers, and developers delivering high‑profile projects for one of the largest technology companies in the world. leadership team),
The Technical Director is accountable for project execution, technical quality, client compliance, and team development. This is a client‑facing role requiring excellent English communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders. 

Key responsibilities

  • Project delivery: Ensure projects meet the client’s strict standards across Privacy, Security, Accessibility (WCAG 2.1), Performance and Interactivity.
  • Client compliance & governance: Enforce vendor compliance and adapt processes to evolving client requirements and timelines.
  • Client & sales engagement: Build trusted relationships with the client’s technical liaisons and internal sales teams; educate clients on technical constraints and compliance.
  • Technical leadership: Lead the architecture and development of complex web apps and internal tools (approx. 60% front‑end, 40% back‑end); own solution design, code quality, performance, and security.
  • Developer productivity: Standardize the tech stack, libraries, CI/CD, testing and code review practices to improve velocity and quality.
  • People management: Manage 10-15 Engineers in LATAM and provide technical direction and coaching. Conduct performance reviews and support Engineering Managers on tactical issues.
  • Hiring & scoping: Vet incoming RFPs, scope technical requirements, and assign the right teams in collaboration with Accounts, Production and Operations.
  • Knowledge sharing: Capture learnings and establish repeatable best practices across the organization.
  • Cross‑discipline collaboration: Work closely with UX, Creative, Product and Account teams on joint initiatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in software development; 7+ years in agency environments; 4+ years in a Technical Director or equivalent leadership role.
  • Prior experience working with large, highly regulated technology clients or as a vendor to such clients strongly preferred. Compliance knowledge for enterprise vendors is essential.
  • Proven record leading delivery of complex web apps involving multiple developers.
  • Strong frontend expertise (JavaScript/TypeScript, Web Components/Angular familiarity a plus) and solid backend experience (Python preferred).
  • Hands‑on ability to define secure, scalable cloud architectures (experience with major cloud providers strongly preferred).
  • Experience with build systems and automated deployment pipelines; familiarity with performance optimization techniques (caching, SSR/SSG, code‑splitting, monitoring).
  • Deep knowledge of accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and security best practices (OAuth2, XSS, CSRF, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written English; confident presenter to clients and stakeholders. Ability to work with Spanish‑speaking teams is a plus.
  • Comfortable estimating under uncertainty and balancing risk.
