Technical Designer - Interiors Architecture

Your Role 

As a Technical Designer at Gensler, you will collaborate with a team of architects and designers to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction administration phase of a project. Working on a wide variety of project types including workplace, retail/financial services, commercial office buildings, amenities spaces, and repositioning projects. Your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with a focus on project delivery and an understanding how to produce functionally beautiful designs.  You will drive the delivery of a project, collaborate with office and regional technical leaders, and develop delivery and process improvement strategy.

 What You Will Do  

  • Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration 
  • Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives. 
  • Produce BIM models and construction drawings; Oversee the creation and maintenance of the project manual and specifications with our in-house spec writing team. 
  • Resolve challenging technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions. 
  • Actively lead smaller projects or co-lead a team on larger projects for successful delivery. 
  • Co-manage construction meetings, team communication and consultant coordination. 

Your Qualifications  

  • 10+ years of experience in an architecture design firm   
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Revit required 
  • Proficiency in modeling using 2D/3D software, such as CAD, Enscape, 3ds MAX, Sketch-up and/or Rhino utilizing V-Ray is preferred 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) 
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements 
  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills 
  • Enrolled in IDP Program (NCARB or NCIDQ) and in-process for state licensure 
  • LEED Accredited Professional or in process preferred 
  • Ability to work in person in the office 5 days a week 
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively and have the ability to take direction from senior designers / architects. 
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills 
  • General knowledge of the total project process including team management, schedule and budget  

**The base salary will be estimated between $96,000K– $117,000K plus bonuses and benefits and is contingent on relevant experience.
