 What Research and Development Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Research and Development Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical support at an intermediary level to new product development projects and post product release projects. This individual is expected to be proficient in the various competencies relevant to their job. Requires limited supervision; limited instruction on routine work, and general instructions are given on new work or special assignments.

First Shift position (Monday - Friday) in Hazelwood, MO

Responsibilities

Product Testing

  • Under general supervision, follows testing protocols, selects appropriate test fixtures and set-ups.

  • Assists in test method development.

  • Coordinates with project Engineer(s) to setup, execute, and report out results for each test project.

Protocol/Report Writing

  • Under direction, writes protocols.

  • Writes reports including data, analysis, and observations from testing performed according to protocols.

Laboratory Management

  • Maintains laboratory supplies.

  • Aids in maintaining calibration and repair of equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 2 or more years related work experience preferred

  • Verification, Validation, and Evaluation testing for medical devices, preferred

  • Tensile Test Equipment (i.e. MTS, Instron, or similar), preferred

  • Optical Measurement Equipment (i.e. OGP, Keyonce, or similar), preferred

What is expected of you and others at this level

  • Applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks

  • Readily learns and applies new information and methods to work in assigned area

  • Utilization of time management and organizational skills to coordinate projects, as needed, in parallel.

  • Leverage critical thinking skill on a daily basis, as it related to product testing, to understand and communicate test findings to the Engineering team.

  • Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications

  • Works on routine assignments that require some problem resolution

  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods

  • Adheres to all quality guidelines

  • Works under moderate degree of supervision

  • Work typically involves regular review of output by work lead or supervisor

  • Refers complex unusual problems to supervisor

Anticipated hourly range: $22.00 per hour - $31.60 per hour
