Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Director with a specialization in Trusts and Estates to lead and expand our firm’s high-net-worth tax practice. This individual will serve as a key technical expert and strategic advisor, providing leadership on complex trust, estate, and gift tax matters. The ideal candidate brings deep subject-matter expertise, strong client management skills, and the ability to mentor and develop a growing tax team.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Trusts & Estates tax practice, overseeing complex engagements involving trusts, estates, gifts, and high-net-worth individuals.
Provide advanced tax planning, compliance, and advisory services related to trust structures, estate strategies, charitable giving, and wealth transfer.
Review and approve federal and state trust and estate tax returns, gift tax returns, and related filings.
Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, fiduciaries, and internal departments on multi-disciplinary planning strategies.
Serve as a technical resource for the team on tax law changes, IRS guidance, and best practices within the Trusts & Estates domain.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Lead, mentor, and develop tax staff and managers; support training and knowledge-sharing across the department.
Assist in business development efforts, including client retention, expanding existing relationships, and identifying new opportunities.
Ensure compliance with firm policies, tax regulations, and professional standards.

Required Qualifications:
8+ years of progressive tax experience with a strong focus on Trusts and Estates.
Prior Director-level experience or equivalent leadership responsibility within a tax practice.
Extensive knowledge of trust and estate taxation, wealth transfer strategies, and related regulations.
Strong leadership, communication, and client-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple complex engagements simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:
CPA credential preferred, but not required.
Experience working within a public accounting firm, wealth management firm, or law firm environment.
Master’s in Taxation (MST) or JD/LLM in Taxation is a plus.
