Tax Accountant Associate

Job Summary

Completes professional tax accounting activities. Prepares tax returns and related reports. May also be responsible for special reports and analysis involving financial data. Assists in maintenance of organization's tax records. Will work cooperatively with accounting staff in various projects or process improvements.

Essential Functions

  • Performs tax compliance functions for affiliates (i.e. preparation of Non-profit and Corporate Federal, State and Local tax returns and tax estimates); may assist with research, general consulting tasks, and performs individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Prepares an accurate and timely organized tax file including appropriate supporting documentation for the tax returns. Meets time budgets and due dates, proactively communicates work status, future needs and expectations to management.
  • Prepares annual personal property tax statements and assists in the annual tax documentation process.
  • Capable of maintaining the organizational needs of the tax department, including managing the due date listing, electronic file storage, and coordination of mailings with administrative staff.
  • Works effectively with tax team, other departments and outside accounting firms in improving processes and services. Strong commitment to quality and displays sense of urgency in responding to requests. Ability to work on multiple projects with competing timelines, collaborating with Sr Accountant and Tax Manager to prioritize.
  • Effectively applies tax knowledge to understand business tax returns and related issues. Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the successful performance of all assigned responsibilities. Continuously develops an understanding of the unique aspects of the health care delivery and insurance industries.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree accounting, business, health care administration, or related field.

Preferred

  • 1 year of relevant experience Tax
  • LIC-Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - STATE_MI State of Michigan
