Figureai

Systems Integration Engineer – Head Subsystem

San Jose, CA Full Time

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.

We are seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to lead the bring up, integration, and validation of the Head Subsystem, the core of the robot’s perception and interaction capabilities. This system combines cameras, audio, displays, embedded compute, RF, and an IMU into a single assembly that enables the robot to see, hear, and communicate. You will own this subsystem from prototype through full robot and production integration, validating electrical, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and software performance, developing comprehensive validation coverage, and ensuring every unit meets Figure’s reliability and perception standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead subsystem bring-up and full-stack integration across compute, perception, and communication interfaces (USB, Display Port, MIPI, PCIe, Ethernet, RF and SGMII).
  • Develop and execute validation plans for vision, audio, IMU, compute, displays and thermal domains using automated and manual test setups.
  • Debug complex cross-disciplinary issues across hardware, firmware, software, and perception systems using telemetry, DAQs, and instrumentation.
  • Design, document, and scale calibration and validation workflows that feed factory EOL and field readiness.
  • Analyze data and define KPIs to track subsystem performance, reliability, and fleet health over time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
  • 4–8+ years of experience in system integration, validation, or test development for complex robotic or embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of power systems, communication protocols, and embedded compute architectures.
  • Proficiency in Python (required) and familiarity with C++ for automation, scripting, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with thermal, electrical, and sensor validation using tools such as oscilloscopes, DAQs, IR cameras, and audio analyzers.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience validating perception, audio, or compute subsystems in robotics, automotive, or consumer electronics.
  • Familiarity with ROS2, camera calibration pipelines, or perception frameworks.
  • Background in RF and antenna validation, EMI mitigation, or thermal management.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site integration or manufacturing support.
