The Sustainable Sourcing Manager works across food and non-food product categories to develop and deliver Asda’s sustainable sourcing strategy. This involves management of forest risk commodities, helping drive progress on standards and tracking and compliance with legislation. The role also gets more broadly involved in management of our nature strategy, working on water and biodiversity management with our agriculture teams.
Understanding product supply chains, helping the business navigate implementation of progressive standards, embedding awareness and understanding throughout the supply base will be fundamental to the role.
Key responsibilities include:
Drive the businesses sustainable sourcing strategy across food and non-food forward. Working with suppliers, colleagues and NGOs - Tracking the market development of standards and regulation and ensuring a proactive position on key issues.
Developing sourcing policies and projects to deliver ASDAs ESG strategy and progress on sourcing standards.
Working closely with suppliers, commercial and technical teams to embed understanding and delivery of standards.
Manage project delivery for multi-stakeholder compliance projects e.g. related to developing regulation such as on forest risk commodities.
Represent ASDA in external groups with suppliers, retailers, Government and NGOs.
Undertake reporting and KPI tracking across suppliers to in turn facilitate external reporting and disclosure on key sourcing metrics.
Provide technical and specialist advice.
Let find out about you:
Experience working within a retail or FMCG business, within a sustainability, technical or commercial capacity.
Demonstrable project management experience.
Strong communicator, able to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner to decision makers at all levels.
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. The ability to multi task and prioritise is crucial.
Strategic thinker and be able to draw insights from a variety of sources and metrics to provide bigger picture recommendations.
Sustainability expertise with an ability to talk to key environmental issues.
Experienced influencer comfortable working with and influencing internal and external stakeholders to deliver the sustainability agenda.
