Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number PDD1291000 and is part of the WY Field Maintenance Shop 5, Wyoming Army National Guard. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is required.

Major Duties:

The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function. Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. (1) Planning: Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to week or month-to-month basis. (2) Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. (3) Administration: Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. (4) Performs non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc. (5) Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. ** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. **

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Work is covered by the 5800-job family which includes occupations involved in repairing, adjusting, and maintaining self-propelled transportation and other mobile equipment (except aircraft), including any special purpose features with which they may be equipped. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify interconnected complex systems on a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Extensive knowledge of state of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and other major non-mechanical systems that have a functional relationship and effect on the operation of major mechanical systems. Extensive knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls. Skill and knowledge to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modifications to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modifications to meet special test requirements or other special needs. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.
