Your Opportunity 

Stuart Lodge provides transitional accommodation for singles and families in Alice Springs who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Stuart Lodge has 33 rooms (with up to 68 beds).

Our support services provide assessment, case coordination/case management services associated with participants experiencing homelessness who are residing at the Stuart Lodge facility. We actively work to expand family support partnerships with parenting and childcare programs across the region to help facilitate improved family outcomes across all our NT services.

This is an on-site position and in the role as a Support Worker, you will provide day, afternoon, and overnight supervision, participant support, as well as general administrative and cleaning duties. Your contributions will play a vital role in supporting residents to achieve positive outcomes, in alignment with the service contract and Mission Australia’s values.

This is a 24 hour service, therefore applicants must be available to work evening, overnight and weekend shifts when required.

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Establish positive working relationships with clients adhering to boundaries of care practice.
  • Assist team members in the provision of practical support to clients such as transport and continuous monitoring.
  • Support clients with basic needs in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
  • Maintain standards of conduct for the service, compliance to program rules and responsibilities to contribute to the program success.
  • Collaborate with the team in the care and management of people who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • Undertake basic administrative tasks in accordance with instructions.

Requirements for Success 

  • Previous experience in Homelessness, Community Services and/or Mental Health sectors or a similar position.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities with a deep understanding and respect for the culture and protocols.
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft programs.
  • Willing to work as part of a roster which includes nights and weekends.
  • First Aid Certificate is desired but not essential.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
