Salary to be commensurate with experience
Hiring pay for this position is $29.14 - $36.42 /hour

The Support Specialist of the City of Aurora Public Safety Training Center performs a variety of clerical duties for the Police Training Academy. This position supports the Training Academy Lieutenant, their staff, and all recruit members.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
May order supplies and review against budgetary restrictions dependent upon Command Staff approvals
Some personnel actions such as personnel orders
Prepares information for internal purposes that may be used for outside presentation at meetings
Receives and responds to requests for information
Heightened responsibility for oversight, management, reconciliation of credit card transactions – Credit Card Custodian
Performs other related duties as assigned
UNIT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Sorts and distributes mail and other material to appropriate employees, internal divisions or outside agencies.
Processes documents and reports
May take, transcribe and distribute minutes at meetings.
Records transactions and processes any other required paperwork.
May take and transcribe complex and confidential reports.
Completes ongoing paperwork requirements for P.O.S.T. certification.
Plans and sets up for large events
Performs Notary duties for the APD
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Education:
Experience:
3 years of general clerical experience, including data entry and customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a judicial or law enforcement environment
Knowledge:
Knowledge of office practices and procedures
Manual and computer filing systems
Advanced knowledge of business English, spelling, and math
General office equipment, and a personal computer with related software applications
Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate)
Purchase Card Training
Skills:
Efficiently and accurately key information using a keyboard and skills in performing data entry
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Composition grammar and spelling
Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, report generation, and maintenance of databases.
Abilities:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Occasional Standing/Walking- Occurs up to 31 minutes to 2.5 hours per shift
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Medium work that involves moving no more than 40 pounds with or without assistance at a time
Frequent lifting, carrying, walking and standing
Hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard
Vision to read and interpret reports, documents and other written information
Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
Works primarily in clean, comfortable office/cubicle environment with shared equipment
Equipment Used:
Frequently uses computer keyboard and telephone, fax machines, and copier
