The Supply Chain & Procurement Manager makes sure aerospace programs have the right parts and services on time, at the right cost, and with the right documentation and quality. You will own supplier selection, purchasing execution, and supply risk management from early builds through production, working closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Buying
- Source and purchase parts and services for aerospace products, including electronics, circuit-board assemblies, machined parts, and outside processing.
- Run quote requests, compare suppliers, and negotiate pricing, lead times, and purchasing terms.
- Place and manage purchase orders, confirm supplier commitments, and keep deliveries on track.
Supplier Management
- Own relationships with key suppliers and hold them accountable for delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost.
- Track supplier performance and lead regular check-ins to resolve issues and prevent repeat problems.
- Coordinate supplier onboarding and ensure suppliers can meet technical and quality expectations.
Documentation, Traceability, and Change Control
- Ensure required supplier paperwork is collected and stored (for example: certificates, test reports, and lot or serial tracking when required).
- Make sure purchases match the correct drawing and revision, and that changes are implemented correctly across suppliers and internal teams.
- Support investigations for material issues by providing clear purchase history and supplier documentation.
Planning & Material Readiness
- Turn build plans into clear purchasing plans, with special focus on long-lead items.
- Set practical inventory levels for critical parts to avoid shortages and schedule slips.
- Lead shortage reviews, prioritize expediting, and communicate risk early with clear options.
Cost, Risk, and Continuous Improvement
- Identify supply risks (single-source parts, long lead times, obsolete parts, constrained suppliers) and drive mitigation plans.
- Reduce cost through smarter sourcing, supplier consolidation, negotiation, and partnering with engineering on cost-conscious alternatives.
- Improve internal purchasing processes, supplier communication, and data accuracy in the purchasing system.
