The Ultra Assurance function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications, and to maintain an effective Quality Management System, working in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that supplied products, processes, and services conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of manufacturing productivity and efficiency.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Non-Conformance Process Support and Management
  • Liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing and Procurement for material issues
  • Supplier Audits and Action Verification
  • Supplier Continuous Improvement
  • Assist in First Article/First Piece Inspection and Physical Configuration Audits at either UM or the Supplier
  • Coach Suppliers on PFMEA and Control Plan activity.
  • Coordinate all efforts for Non-conforming material, getting inputs from design, manufacturing and supply chain management.
  • Review data obtained through the incoming receiving department, and address issues or make adjustments within the inspection system accordingly for their commodity area.
  • Support the ISO 9001:2015 approved Supplier Quality system and support audits as required.
  • Provide support for any customer visits and/or DCMA visits related to parts.
  • Investigate and address customer complaints regarding part quality.
  • Evaluate new suppliers and ensure that due diligence is given to identifying and managing the associated risks
  • Assist the Supplier Quality Manager with the approval process when suppliers are added, their scope of approvals are updated, or there are changes in the location of manufacture, process, critical equipment, ownership, etc.  With Supply Chain Management actively approved and disapprove suppliers as required.
  • All staff is required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety by adhering to established safety policies and procedures, to not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual and to wear personal protective equipment as specified in work instructions.
  • Performs all other duties as required, requested or needed. ​

Other:

  • Must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Must have excellent understanding in root cause analysis and the ability to lead teams in the use of the data.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), ERP systems, Minitab and other Quality assurance tools.
  • Must be proficient using GD&T and basic metrology equipment (caliper, micrometer, etc.).
  • Experience with electronic components, PCBAs, batteries, wire harnesses, and ceramics is preferred.
