As a Cyber Engineering Intern within the Space & Airborne Center, you will interface with the customers to develop CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. Our center focuses on front end design and development as well as transitioning systems through integration and test to production. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies.

What You Will Do

  • Assist with monitoring security alerts and analyzing potential threats.
  • Support vulnerability assessments and patch management activities.
  • Help with documenting security procedures, incident reports, and compliance tasks.
  • Participate in security audits, risk assessments, or awareness training.
  • Contribute to research on emerging threats and security best practices.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity concepts, such as:
    • Threats & vulnerabilities
    • Access controls
    • Security best practices
  • Experience with basic log analysis and troubleshoot security issues.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Extracurricular involvement in school groups/clubs and/or the community
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Security-related certifications in progress (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, or similar).
  • Experience with scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Understanding of basic cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
