Amentum is looking for a Navigation Systems technician experienced with preventive and corrective maintenance with Virginia Class and/or Los Angeles Submarine Navigation, Radar and Interior Communications systems. Applicants with a strong technical experience with SSBN/SSGN systems are encouraged to apply.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform onboard, Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to analyze system operational performance checks, fault isolation, and repair of equipment/system deficiencies of submarine Navigation, Radar and Interior Communications systems.
Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to ship’s force during maintenance efforts.
Provide direct FTA support by responding to fleet requests for trouble shooting guidance, technical assistance, and part identification and availability. These requests are received via telephone and/or naval messages, and require research of technical documents, which are available at MARMC.
Provide, review, and create Technical Assist Visit Report (TAVR) messages upon completion of all FTA visits and ensure JCN information for entry into FTS database with status of problem, findings, and actions taken to the Waterfront Coordinator.
Weekly waterfront operation meeting inputs for MARMC Code 273A submarine action items.
Updates to FTS and TAR for all work accomplished by MARMC Code 273A
Provide for OEM support when required.
Direct FTA to support SWFTS suite when required.
Review incoming CASREP and Tech Assist message traffic for applicable code 273A messages.
Provide updates for the FTS database with respect to CASREP and FTA status for code 273A.
Calibrate all government test equipment used for FTA, not able to be calibrated by Navy METCAL.
Perform onboard FTA during TYCOM scheduled Information Assurance (IA) posture transition events.
Support scheduled submarine NIWC/SIIMO Alteration Installation Team (AIT) efforts, as directed by MARMC Code 273A. Specific efforts shall include, but not be limited to:
Technical/logistical support for legacy retained equipment to perform pre-testing, rip-out, post testing, and ECI installation on submarines
Review and comment on documentation required for ECI installation to include SUBMEPP Test Procedures.
Support for the installation/logistics of submarine Navigation, Radar and Interior Communications systems.
Minimum Requirements:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of submarine systems and equipment including submarine electronics, antennas, radar/VMS systems, navigational systems, and Interior Communications systems.
Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing corrective action.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Eight (8) years of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, or repair of electronics systems and equipment.
