The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world. There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients. Job Responsibilities: 

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • 7–10 years of enterprise experience supporting Microsoft Exchange Online / Exchange Hybrid environments. 

  • Proven expertise in mail flow troubleshooting (queues, logs, connectors, routing, spam filtering). 

  • Hands-on with Exchange Online Protection (EOP), transport rules, and security policies. 

  • Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting for Exchange Online administration and automation. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams administration and O365 compliance workloads (eDiscovery, retention, DLP). 

  • Familiarity with DNS, SMTP, IMAP, POP protocols related to mail routing and delivery. 

  • Solid understanding of directory synchronization (AAD Connect/Entra ID) and identity dependencies. 

  • Prior exposure to large enterprise messaging environments (50k+ users preferred). 

 

Exchange Online Administration & Support 

  • Manage and troubleshoot mail flow, queues, connectors, and transport rules. 

  • Perform distribution list (DL) modifications and mailbox rights administration. 

  • Implement and enforce mail aging policies and email retention policies as per client standards. 

  • Monitor Exchange services, logs, database replication, and perform routine health checks. 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot public folders, replication issues, and hierarchy management. 

  • Execute patching, cumulative updates, and routine Exchange Online maintenance activities. 

  • Perform queue clearing, service recycling, and log analysis in case of performance or delivery issues. 

  • Conduct mailbox cleanup, database maintenance, and support for server restarts. 

  • Respond to escalations related to mailbox access, size limits, and synchronization errors. 

O365 & Teams Collaboration 

  • Administer Microsoft Teams for policies, collaboration settings, and issue resolution. 

  • Integrate Exchange Online with Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business. 

  • Manage O365 compliance tasks such as Email eDiscovery, retention policies, and litigation hold. 

  • Support EOP (Exchange Online Protection) by creating rules, allow/block domains, and refining anti-spam/anti-phish policies. 

  • Oversee Office 365 E5 service workloads under messaging and collaboration scope. 

Monitoring & Incident Management 

  • Continuously monitor mail traffic, service queues, replication status, and directory synchronization. 

  • Investigate log files and event traces to perform advanced troubleshooting. 

  • Handle escalations from L1/L2 support and resolve complex user issues. 

  • Provide RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and remediation for recurring problems. 

Documentation & Compliance 

  • Maintain updated SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles. 

  • Ensure compliance with ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management. 

  • Prepare operational health and capacity reports for client review. 

           

Soft Skills: 

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset for handling escalations. 

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills for incident discussions and RCA walkthroughs. 

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, infra, compliance). 

  • Flexibility to work in rotational 24x7 operations (if required by client). 

 

Nice-to-Have (Preferred): 

  • Exposure to hybrid Exchange coexistence (on-premises to O365 migrations). 

  • Familiarity with third-party email security appliances (TMES, Proofpoint, Cisco ESA, Mimecast). 

  • Knowledge of Teams voice integration and meeting policies. 

  • ITIL v3/v4 certification. 

  • Microsoft Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate / Teams Administrator Associate.
