Job Summary:

The Student Experience Coordinator plays a key role in organizing signature events like Welcome Week and Spring New Student Orientation, as well as supporting other cohort based programs that foster belonging and engagement across campus. This position combines event coordination, administrative excellence, and a passion for building community.

Salary:
Pay range $22.64 - $24.45
Actual salary offered is determined by the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and other factors, including internal equity and university funding resources.

What You'll Be Doing: 

  • Assist in the coordination of logistics and administrative responsibilities for key campus events, including Welcome Week and Spring New Student Orientation.

  • Support in administration and logistics for other student experience programs such as Sophomore September, and Intercultural Pathways, and other cohort-based programs/events

  • Communicate across multiple platforms to ensure accurate event promotion and information sharing for staff, faculty, and students.

  • Manage event timelines, facility requests, vendor coordination, and materials preparation.

  • Track expenses, reconcile budgets, and maintain records for student experience programs.

  • Provide administrative support through database management, scheduling, and reporting.

  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for students, faculty, and staff throughout the year for the Student Experience office.

  • Assist in supporting student leaders, student interns, and other staff for event operations.

  • Collect feedback from participants to enhance future events and experiences.

  • Support daily operations and collaborative projects within the Office of Student Experience and larger Department of Student Life & Formation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2–4 years of event planning and/or higher education experience required

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with great attention to detail

  • Accuracy and attention to detail, strong organization skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Strong writing and editing skills are required, including an ability to compose correspondence using correct English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, format and accurate proofreading

  • Proficiency with Google Office Suite and database management required

  • Experience with event management, Workday platform, and Salesforce softwares preferred

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups including students, staff, and faculty

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend events

  • Ability to communicate and exercise important human relation skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Point Loma community and the general public

  • Some graphic design experience and/or knowledge is a plus

  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work involves a combination of sedentary and physical tasks, including sitting for extended periods, walking, and occasional lifting or moving of items up to 30+ lbs.

  • Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

  • Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.

  • This is a full-time in-person position.
