Student Engineer - Regulatory Affairs (7-Month Contract)

Job Description Summary

As a Student Engineer in the Regulatory Affairs (RA) department, you will contribute to transforming how regulatory data and documentation are managed, analyzed, and leveraged using emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and data analytics. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve compliance workflows, enhance decision-making, and support digital innovation within a global medical device organization.

Let's talk about Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and deployment of data-driven and AI-assisted tools for regulatory operations.

  • Work with RA subject matter experts to analyze unstructured regulatory data (e.g., submissions files) structured regulatory data (e.g. product data ) and identify automation opportunities.

  • Build and maintain SQL queries, dashboards, and data pipelines to improve visibility and traceability of regulatory information.

  • Assist in process documentation, including development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new digital workflows.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving IT, Quality, R&D, and Supply team teams to ensure alignment between technology and regulatory compliance needs.

  • Perform data validation, testing, and model evaluation for prototype solutions.

  • Execute ad-hoc technical tasks to support the Regulatory Affairs team, such as data maintenance, data cleaning, automation scripting, or report generation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • Strong understanding of SQL, data management, and database design.

  • Foundational knowledge of AI/ML concepts, Python, and data analytics tools (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, Power BI, Tableau).

  • Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) and automation frameworks is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with an interest in applying technical skills to healthcare and regulatory domains.
