The Student Activities Program Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director of Campus Life, within the Department of Campus Life in the Division of Student Engagement & Success. The coordinator will provide leadership in developing, coordinating, and executing signature student engagement programs and supporting the Tarleton Activities Board (T.A.B.).

This professional staff member will advise the Tarleton Activities Board in all aspects of its operations, including meetings, program planning, leadership growth, and organizational development. The coordinator will also oversee Registered Student Organization (RSO) event approvals through Texan Sync, manage campus traditions such as Purple Thursday, Texan Bingo, Lighting of the Smokestack, Create-a-Critter, and MayFete, supervise 1–2 student workers, and collaborate across the department to strengthen student engagement initiatives. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

This is an in-office position, located in Stephenville, Texas, with occasional travel to the Fort Worth campus for various student events or projects. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM and may include some evenings and weekends, as needed, to support major student events.

Duties and Responsibilities

Student Organization Advising & Support (40%)

  • Serve as the primary advisor for the Tarleton Activities Board (T.A.B.), guiding members through all meetings, programs, leadership initiatives, and organizational growth.

  • Provide mentorship, officer training, and leadership development opportunities for T.A.B. officers and general members.

  • Review and approve RSO event submissions through Texan Sync, ensuring compliance with university policies.

  • Assist student leaders with event planning, budgeting, marketing, and risk management processes.

 

Event Coordination & Signature Programming (40%)

  • Plan, implement, and assess major campus traditions and student activities

  • Manage program logistics, vendor contracts, reservations, and risk management.

  • Collaborate with campus departments and community partners to support cross-campus involvement and engagement.

  • Oversee all aspects of event planning and execution, including program development, scheduling, marketing coordination, and on-site logistics.

  • Assist in developing and improving programs that strengthen student involvement and promote campus engagement

Operations and Assessment (10%)

  • Supervise and mentor 1–2 student workers supporting Student Activities and event programming.

  • Assist with departmental marketing and outreach efforts, including social media (T.A.B. page), digital signage, and work in collaboration with SES MarComm.

  • Maintain event attendance records, contribute to departmental annual reports, and support assessment initiatives.

  • Collect student feedback, track participation, and prepare assessment reports for departmental use.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)

  • Assist with other Campus Life initiatives, programs, or events as assigned.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Leadership & Service, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and Student Involvement to support division-wide engagement opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as needed in support of the Department of Campus Life and the Division of Student Engagement & Success.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Three years of professional experience related to student activities, student engagement, or related programming.

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated passion for student engagement, campus programming, and leadership development.

  • Experience advising student organizations and coordinating large-scale student events.

  • Ability to assess program effectiveness and implement improvements.

  • Creativity and initiative in developing innovative programs.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to support major student events.

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Experience coordinating campus traditions or large-scale programming in a university setting.

  • Knowledge of university risk management, event contracts, and student travel policies.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Salary Range:

The target base annual salary range is $47,000 to $61,940.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
