Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Strategy Intern will support the development of key strategic initiatives that enhance the business and align with Interac’s long-term priorities. You will collaborate with internal teams to assist in researching emerging trends, analyzing market and competitive dynamics, and identifying growth opportunities.
You’ll help gather insights and data to inform strategic recommendations and performance measurement. This role is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in how strategy is developed and executed within Canada’s financial services industry while contributing to high-impact projects that shape Interac’s future direction.
You’ll be responsible for:
Assisting in the development of strategic recommendations that support long-term business objectives.
Supporting the strategic planning process by conducting research, preparing presentations, and contributing to board and leadership materials.
Helping with opportunity sizing, business case development, and market analysis for new initiatives and growth opportunities.
Translating complex ideas into clear, concise summaries and visuals for internal and external stakeholders.
Researching and summarizing emerging trends and foresight signals to inform strategic priorities and planning discussions.
Collecting and analyzing data to identify insights, track performance metrics, and support decision-making.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to contribute to ongoing strategic projects and initiatives.
You bring:
You are currently enrolled in a university or college program in a relevant discipline, such as business, economics, finance, or computer science.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify insights, and support decision-making.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau) and comfort conducting market research.
The ability to distill complex ideas into clear, actionable insights and connect the dots across different initiatives.
Demonstrated initiative and curiosity to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments while adapting to ambiguity.
Some exposure to consulting, strategy, or business operations through coursework, projects, or internships.
An interest in building relationships and contributing to strategic initiatives that shape the organization’s future direction.
