Staff User Experience Designer

As a Staff UX Designer, you are a pivotal leader within a product team, responsible for driving UX strategy and execution at the team level while ensuring alignment with broader business and product outcomes. You excel at connecting the dots between user insights, design patterns, product requirements, and business goals. In this individual contributor role, you’re a trusted expert both tactically and strategically for other designers on your team, as well as with partners in Product Management and Engineering. You are capable of autonomously leading complex projects, mentoring team members, and collaborating effectively cross-functionally. You have a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate ambiguity well. You are a champion for craft excellence and advocate for design quality, grounded in your deep understanding of our users and their experiences within our product.

Team:

Our team designs innovative experiences that empower contact centre Agents worldwide. By partnering with product and engineering teams, we seamlessly integrate AI assistants and automation into Agent workflows, enabling organisations to deliver personalised, exceptional customer experiences.

Location: For this position we are open to candidates who wish to work hybrid from our office in Galway or remote within Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Design Projects: Oversee the design aspects of major projects, including defining problem statements, determining research needs, providing rigorous review and critique of designs, delegating tasks – knowing when to step in and design the hardest aspects yourself, and ensuring successful implementation of designs into production.

  • Autonomy & Ambiguity: Exercise independent judgment to handle high levels of ambiguity, with the keen ability to know when to raise a flag to your manager or PM/Eng partner. Develop effective plans and solutions for complex organizational and/or design challenges.

  • Team Development: Provide mentorship to other designers and model behaviors that contribute to the development of a high performing and rigorous design culture on the team.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to drive alignment and integrate design strategy into product roadmaps and development processes. Clearly articulate design concepts and strategic insights through engaging presentations and visual storytelling, influencing stakeholders at all levels.

  • Design & Business Impact: Lead with an impact-first and user-centered mindset to develop and deliver design strategies that align with our business objectives.

  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to refining team processes and rituals, such as leading sprint planning sessions and driving a culture of critique, to enhance productivity and design excellence.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in user experience design, with a strong background in participating in the complete product development lifecycle of web or software applications.

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Skills:

    • Deep knowledge of Figma, design systems, and low-fi collaboration tools like Miro/FigJam.

    • Focus on system and framework thinking

    • Experienced in applying various research methodologies, including usability and generative techniques.

    • Proven track record of partnering with development teams and product management to define strategy, influence the direction of the product, and successfully ship designs.

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively tell compelling stories through visual, verbal, and written communication. This includes articulating a clear design rationale and conceptual ideas – tailoring the communication to meet the needs of various audiences.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in designing for enterprise-level applications, services, or platforms (specifically support or call centers).
