About the Role:

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with deep production experience in Python and hands-on expertise in AI/ML systems — particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), BERT, or similar architectures. You’ll play a key role in building scalable, intelligent systems that power our next-generation AI capabilities.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with product teams, engineers within the team and also cross collaboration and to design and implement robust, high-performance solutions that bring AI research into production.

What You’ll Do :

  • Design and deliver production-grade systems and scalable AI/ML pipelines, integrating models such as LLMs, BERT, and other architectures into Alphasense product.
  • Drive technical excellence through robust system design, algorithm optimization, and high-performance model deployment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and business stakeholders to align technical strategies with roadmap goals, ensuring business impact and delivery predictability.
  • Own end-to-end execution — from requirements to release — facilitating technical discussions, unblocking teams, and accurately forecasting deliverables.
  • Ensure quality and reliability by proactively engaging in release planning, maintaining high development standards, and upholding service SLOs/SLIs in production.
  • Apply strong DevOps practices to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems, anticipating and resolving risks early.
  • Partner with other Engineers in the team to shape engineering standards, mentor peers across teams, and cultivate a culture of learning, documentation, and shared technical ownership.

Must Have

  • Expert in building scalable, high-performing, and robust applications in Python
  • Several years of production-level experience designing, deploying, and maintaining Python-based systems
  • Hands-on experience (1–2 years) working with AI/ML models such as LLMs, BERT, or similar architectures
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, problem-solving, and object-oriented design
  • Proficient with Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration platforms
  • Deep understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and data modeling principles
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Experience in owning services end-to-end — building, running, performing iterative improvements and observability
  • Strong experience in writing RFCs, creating technical documentation, and driving engineering best practices

Good to Have

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in relevant technologies
  • Experience with testing frameworks
  • Experience with GitOps, ArgoCD
  • Experience with  GraalVM
  • Experience with ML model development is highly beneficial
