Stryker Instruments is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to support New Product Development of our Neurosurgical product portfolio. In this role, you will design and develop schematics and PCB layouts in our medical devices. This role goes beyond engineering—it’s about collaboration, leadership, and driving innovation. This role is hybrid with the expectation to be on-site in Portage, MI, 3 days a week.
Independently design and develop schematics and PCB layouts for electronic circuit boards in medical devices, ensuring alignment with system requirements.
Develop, review, and execute electrical system tests using advanced equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers) to validate performance and reliability.
Identify and evaluate solutions to complex product design challenges, balancing tradeoffs at the component and sub-system levels.
Lead the creation and refinement of technical documentation, including schematics, design descriptions, stack-up calculations, and manufacturing test specifications.
Interface with manufacturers to define and implement manufacturing test specifications for scalable production.
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to drive project success.
Build relationships and influence across engineering teams, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
Deliver high-quality results with passion, energy, and a strong commitment to meeting business priorities such as process improvements, technology advancements, and product development from concept to launch.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
4+ years of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced understanding of electrical components and manufacturing methods including common failure modes.
Ability to interpret, analyze, and test electrical designs.
Working knowledge of the electrical design process.
Proficiency in the use of CAD and/or other circuit design and analysis tools to design.
Knowledge of standard technologies used in industry.
Ability to interpret and analyze system drawings with basic Mechanical/Software/Electrical Interactions.
Knowledge of sub-system, system, and environmental interactions and how to design to them.
