Staff Product Applications Engineer
About the Role
As a Staff Product Applications Engineer at Analog Devices (ADI), you will provide strategic technical leadership in creating tools that assist customers in integrating ADI products into their designs. You will deliver innovative, practical, and timely solutions to complex customer issues while applying and expanding comprehensive system-level understanding of application segments. In this advanced role, you'll lead collaborative efforts within cross-discipline teams to bring new products to market, mentor junior team members, and serve as a technical authority for strategic customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical authority for product applications, providing advanced guidance to engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers while driving technology strategy
- Customer Technical Authority: Act as the primary technical advisor for strategic customers, addressing complex integration challenges and ensuring successful implementation of ADI solutions
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Leadership: Drive and coordinate collaborative efforts across engineering, marketing, and sales organizations to streamline product development and accelerate market introduction
- Complex Problem Resolution: Apply deep technical expertise to resolve sophisticated and novel technical challenges for strategic customers and internal teams
- Technical Knowledge Sharing: Create and deliver advanced technical documentation and training to disseminate expertise throughout the organization and customer base
- Build solution platforms for application investigations, product evaluation, demonstration systems and reference designs for ADEF and Instrumentation markets.
- Work closely with product and SW development team on requirements for future products & systems.
- Write code to test and debug ultra-wideband transceiver product evaluation systems using lab test equipment.
- Guiding customers to integrate and troubleshoot software and hardware on ADI evaluation system and customer system.
Must Have Skills
- System Level Architecture Mastery: Advanced expertise in system-level architecture with the ability to optimize integrated solutions across multiple components and subsystems for maximum performance in complex environments
- Advanced Application Development: Demonstrated leadership in developing sophisticated application tools, reference boards, and software that effectively address complex customer challenges and showcase product capabilities
- Strategic Cross-Disciplinary Leadership: Proven ability to build consensus and drive collaboration across engineering, marketing, and sales organizations to achieve critical business objectives
- Expert Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical capabilities with demonstrated success resolving complex technical challenges using innovative approaches and deep domain knowledge
- Strong coding and programming & debugging skills in C/C++ , Python or Matlab
- Strong fundamentals in high speed data converters, radio signal chain and hardware/software interaction.
- Strong knowledge of RF and/or Converter products & system architectures and familiar with the role of key RF design specifications (such as IP3, P1dB, Gain, Noise Figure, phase noise etc.).
- Experience with RF/Microwave test equipment including Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Power Meters and Oscilloscopes.
- Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
- 8+ years of relevant experience in product applications engineering, customer technical support, or related roles
- Demonstrated expertise with analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products
- RF/mmWave Radio system experience and architecture knowledge are preferred. Expertise in 5G communications, RADAR and high-speed test equipment is a plus.
