An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems Sector, Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) is a leading innovator in advanced microelectronics design and fabrication. MDA is seeking a Senior Staff Hardware Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead. This position is located at our Aurora, CO location.

What You'll Get To Do:

As an IPT Lead, you will be responsible for the execution of various design efforts, such as microelectronics packaging design and analysis, cryogenic component / system design, and other related efforts. An IPT Lead interfaces with a multidisciplinary set of team members and subject matter experts on the programs to best understand the desired product. In this role, you will direct and be responsible for fielding new hardware requests, driving existing design projects to completion, and delivering fully qualified hardware to an end user. You must be comfortable being held accountable to aggressive schedules and working in environments with ever-changing requirements. You will also be required to provide regular updates to technical stakeholders and program managers.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Leading and directing multidisciplinary engineering teams during the request, requirements derivation, preliminary design, detailed design, procurement / manufacturing, acceptance testing, and delivery phases of products in both prototype and volume deployment stages.
  • Developing and driving technical project schedules and budgets in partnership with the program management office, facilitating overall technical execution for 2 – 10 different engineering projects.
  • Briefing internal and external stakeholders on project updates.
  • Developing and shaping technical requirements for hardware design projects based on inputs and requests from stakeholders and discipline leads.
  • Interfacing with outside vendors to develop new technologies, authoring statements of work, systems requirements specifications, and acceptance test plans, when necessary.
  • Managing projects supported by cross-functional engineering teams, including mechanical, thermal, structural, electrical, and physics/science.
  • Providing technical leadership to the team and ensuring proper engineering processes and procedures are followed.
  • Being responsible and accountable to stakeholders and program managers for labor and material execution through Cost Account Management (CAM) assignments, status updates, issue resolution, and overall engineering execution.

This position requires work on-site at Northrop Grumman’s Aurora, CO facility.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or related engineering field with 14+ years of experience, Master of Science degree with 12+ years of experience, or a PhD with 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience in mechanical design, mechanical analysis, or systems engineering including responsibility as an integrated product team (IPT), technical lead, or project lead.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with vendors and customers to develop new technologies.
  • Working knowledge of cryogenic system design.
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in physics, Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience designing complex cryogenic systems.
  • Experience in mechanical design and 3D modeling in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or NX.
  • Mechanical analysis experience such as thermal or structural analysis. 
  • Working knowledge of GD&T best practices.
  • Demonstrated success leading high performing teams as technical, IPT lead, or project lead.
  • An active U.S. government security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
