Position Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (PlayStation). Our software production organization seeks a senior-level software engineer for our Video Codecs team. This team is a trailblazer in video encoding/decoding technology. Efforts here will contribute to the development of system libraries used for both our current and next generation PlayStation products. You will contribute to the design and implementation of technology used for cloud gaming, remote play, game recording, video streaming and in-game video playback. The software you develop here is the foundation of an SDK for industry leading game and content developers and will change the way video games are played worldwide. If this is you, please apply! 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive video codecs architecture design and development for PlayStation SDKs and cloud gaming platform.
  • Own multiple encoder/decoder features with strong accountability for quality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Conduct system-level performance investigations and lead optimization strategies across CPU and GPU.
  • Partner with platform, hardware, and system software teams to investigate and resolve complex, high-priority issues across the codec pipeline.
  • Evaluate emerging codec and media technologies and recommend integration strategies for future platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with GPU programming (HLSL, Vulkan, CUDA) with proven skills in profiling, debugging, and optimizations across CPU and GPU.
  • Familiarity with video compression standards (e.g. H.264/H.265, VP9).
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded programming and debugging using C and C++
  • Proficient with a wide range of development tools, including IDEs, Git/SVN, JIRA
  • Proven ability to deliver features from design to validation with clean, efficient code.

Nice to have:

  • ML/AI modeling and training experience
  • Embedded system experience with multimedia frameworks
  • Knowledge of SIMD optimizations on real time systems
  • Contributions to open-source projects in multimedia, systems programming, or performance engineering.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$193,300$289,900 USD
