Job Summary:

Raytheon is seeking a talented Radio Frequency (RF) Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. The Senior RF Safety Engineer is responsible for managing, controlling, and mitigating the hazards of RF energy under the Raytheon RF Safety Program. The Raytheon RF Safety Program is intended to ensure that no personnel are exposed to RF energy above safe limits. Specifically, the Raytheon RF Safety Program is designed to ensure safe exposure levels from 0 Hz to 300 GHz for employees and the public.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform RF hazard assessments to determine whether the RF emitting system has sufficient power to present a hazard to personnel.
  • Assign hazard categories between 1 and 4 for RF emitting systems, where 1 indicates the emitter is not a hazard to personnel and 4 indicates a risk of serious injury or death.
  • Write and maintain RF Safety Control Plans, establishing the personnel safety guidelines for working in areas with RF emitters.
  • Conduct and/or participate in RF Safety audits to ensure that all RF Safety Control Plans and procedures are being followed correctly.
  • Participate in Engineering Safety Review Boards, where various Raytheon products and their product test plans are reviewed and approved.
  • Occasional travel to other sites is expected, as Raytheon has operations all over the United States. Some international travel may also be required.
  • This position will primarily support the Raytheon California sites in El Segundo, Goleta, and Fullerton.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience with any combination of the following:
  • RF Safety Surveys.
  • RF Safety Control Plans
  • Experience using RF Safety survey equipment by manufacturers such as Wavecontrol or Narda.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Currently holds a DoD issued security clearance of Secret or higher.
  • Strong expertise in the field of EMI design methodologies for military applications.
  • Experience working with military programs.
  • Top Secret security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 90,000 USD - 182,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
