Job Description

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we present a remarkable chance for a Sr. Molding Process Technician in Millersburg. This role is crucial in guaranteeing flawless implementation in injection molding processes, merging advanced technology with your proven skills.

What will you do?

  • Operate and maintain Valve Gate tools, Hot manifolds, Over-molding, Insert molding, and Rotating core movement systems
  • Conduct validation processes for Injection Molding Processing including DOE, FAI, OQ, and PQ
  • Work with hydraulic and all-electric presses (Toyo, Boy, Nissei) ranging from 25 to 250 tons
  • Work together with the team to conduct preventive maintenance on injection molding machines, automation, and injection molds
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues such as flash, sink, tool damage, and other defects
  • Capture cycle counts from molding presses for capacity and scheduling analysis
  • Adhere to cGMP and ISO 13485:2003 standards
  • Handle materials and resins efficiently
  • Provide input on new mold builds and work with prototype molds
  • Establish and confirm pressure decay testing procedures
  • Develop test procedures in collaboration with the Quality team
  • Aid in the repair and upkeep of injection molding machines
  • Develop detailed SWP’s and WID’s for mold change-overs
  • Place purchase orders for necessary materials and components
  • Perform Anticlinal testing using optical comparators, hard-working scopes, micrometers, and other instruments

How will you get there?

  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrated competence in mechanical skills required
  • Desire to learn new skills
  • Openness to participate in workshops on Scientific and Decoupled Molding

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Advanced communication and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical capability to identify waste and improve processes
  • Strong time management skills
  • Mechanical and electrical approach
  • Industry experience preferred
  • A.S. or equivalent experience in Plastics and Polymers preferred
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Scientific and Decoupled Molding Process
  • Experience of at least 2 years in injection molding is desirable
