Job Description
 

Gilead Sciences, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager of Tax Technology to join our tax team. This role will be the go-to person for maturing a variety of existing tax reporting processes. This role will partner closely with tax subject matter experts (SMEs) in international tax, transfer pricing, federal, and state/local tax to design and implement scalable, repeatable, and auditable processes that meet evolving tax requirements. The ideal candidate is passionate about process efficiency, understands how to translate tax requirements into practical workflows, and thrives in environments where they can drive clarity and improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Tax SMEs to understand current-state processes and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Design future-state processes that are scalable, repeatable, and auditable, with a focus on operational efficiency, data integrity, and data readiness

  • Document processes and controls such that an Analyst can execute the process as well as to support internal and external audit requirements

  • Establish and enforce technical standards, best practices, and internal control requirements (including SOX compliance)

  • Maintain processes including deploying enhancements as business data changes or tax requirements evolve

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders on financial systems governance and tax related matters

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ Years with BS/BA or 6+ Years with MS/MA or MBA

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in tax operations or tax technology

  • 3+ years in a global publicly traded corporate tax department

  • Strong working experience with data including a solid understanding of data structures, data integrity, and the ability to troubleshoot data-related problems

  • Strong process improvement and business process design

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Visio, and Teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP, OneSource, and an ETL software (e.g., Alteryx and/or Power Query) highly preferred

  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning about emerging technologies and applications to Tax

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and process designs

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to “hear what people need” to uncover root causes

  • Self-starter with a passion for process improvement and ownership

  • Proven project management skills including managing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects


 

The salary range for this position is: $157,590.00 - $203,940.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
