The Sr. HR Business Partner will provide strategic HR leadership to senior leaders within a functional area(s) of McKesson’s Medical-Surgical business unit. This role is responsible for aligning people strategies with business objectives, driving organizational effectiveness, and fostering a high-performance culture across a distributed, matrixed environment. This individual must operate as a strong collaborator and consultant, leveraging relationship skills and business expertise, and provide solutions and recommendations to align, enable, and accelerate both short and long-term business/change objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and consultant to senior leaders and driving alignment between business and people strategies.

  • Ensure integration of strategy and solutions within the business, and partners with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and Shared Services to deliver effective HR initiatives.

  • Advise and coach leaders on talent development, organizational performance, employee engagement, and culture.

  • Facilitate discussions on talent management and organizational culture to drive future-focused strategies.

  • Act as a problem-solving partner, providing guidance and executing on change management initiatives.

  • Collaborate with other HRBPs, COEs, and Shared Services to drive outcomes and bring data, analytics, benchmarks, and industry knowledge to business discussions and recommendations. 

  • Have experience facilitating employee engagement discussions, calibration sessions, and presenting on HR initiatives and programs.

  • Champion effective leadership, organizational effectiveness, and strong interpersonal communication.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • Human Resources experience: Minimum of 7 years of HR experience, preferably in a large, high-execution organization.

  • This role requires a strong HR professional with experience in supporting senior leaders, driving strategic HR initiatives, and managing change in a complex organization. Strong communication, consulting, and analytical skills are essential to succeed in this role.

  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to navigate within high ambiguity and strategic work, demonstrate behaviors to effectively translate strategic priorities and intent into practical talent solutions. 

  • Collaboration and Influence: Ability to navigate and drive impactful results in a matrix organizational structure. 

  • Relationship Building: Ability to partner with and influence colleagues in the HR Centers of Excellence (Talent Management & Development, Employee Relations, Total Rewards, Global Impact Organization).

  • Build Trust: Quickly build credibility and create accountability with different stakeholders across the enterprise (Executive Leadership team members, BU/FX senior leaders). 

  • Coaching: Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, ability to assess needs, collaborate, and identify best approach and partners to deliver practical solutions that drive talent results. 

  • Communication: Well-developed verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Executive presence: intentionally seeks to ‘know their audience’ and demonstrate ability to navigate environments and situations effectively 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to accurately distill complex information and communicate the information in a concise and understandable manner. 

  • Highly experienced at handling sensitive issues and situations.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to bring your innovative and out-of-the-box ideas to the team.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to travel 10–20% as needed.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$102,000 - $170,000
