Sr. Fixed Assets Accountant

Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of the company’s fixed assets, ensuring compliance with GAAP. 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of fixed assets, including acquisitions, capitalizations, transfers, impairments, and disposals, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls. 
  •  Leverage Sage Fixed Assets to maintain accurate and auditable asset records across multiple entities and reporting structures. 
  • Utilize advanced Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, VBA) and Alteryx workflows to process, analyze, and reconcile large volumes of asset data with speed and precision. 
  • Design and implement scalable data models and automation solutions to streamline fixed asset reporting and close processes. 
  • Support mergers and acquisitions by leading asset due diligence, onboarding acquired fixed asset data, and aligning accounting practices post-acquisition. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of asset data and compliance with corporate accounting policies. 
  • Prepare and present detailed fixed asset reports, roll-forwards, and variance analyses to senior leadership and external auditors. 
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over fixed asset processes, ensuring SOX compliance and audit readiness. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on data integrity, process automation, and reporting efficiency.
     

Nature and Scope

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.

  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Fixed Assets.
  • 3-5 years in accounting field in large corporations
  • Technology Savvy w/Oracle, Sage, Excel, Workday and Alteryx intermediate user lever skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
