We are seeking an experienced professional to lead and deliver technical expertise for utility-scale power generation projects—including solar, wind, and battery storage.

In this senior role, you will manage critical project sub-components such as transmission lines and oversee all aspects of high-voltage (HV) electrical systems, ensuring seamless interconnection of power generation facilities to utility power grids. What you will do:

  • Lead the execution aspects of design, construction, and commissioning and support the development of Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA) for the interconnection(s) process with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs).

  • Review and optimize HV/MV substation, collection, transmission line, and equipment specifications (transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, battery storage (BESS), etc.).

  • Conduct or review power system studies (e.g., power flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, grounding) and ensure all designs align with applicable codes, standards and company specifications.

  • Act as technical interface for the project between internal teams (Power Business Development, Technical Services, Power Operations, Supply Chain Management, Legal, Safety, Land, Environment, Projects Supporting Groups, etc.), external consultants, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and equipment vendors.

  • Aid in the procurement process for HV equipment by developing/supporting technical bid packages, optimizing design and equipment, reviewing/approving vendor submittals and working collaboratively with the broader project team in bringing domain expertise to equipment sourcing.

  • Provide expert technical support during the construction and commissioning phases, including office and project site-based oversight & quality control through design and construction, participating in acceptance tests as required and taking a leadership role in commissioning and integration, working collaboratively across internal & external teams.

  • Actively contribute to the project reporting & key achievements tracking to partners and management, proactively bringing up issues as needed.
     

Who you are:

  • University degree in Engineering, registered as a PE (US) or P.Eng. (Canada), strong preference for Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum 8 years, preferred 10-15+ years of progressively increasing technical and informal/functional leadership experience.

  • Directly related experience in utility scale power systems electrical design, integration and interconnection is a variety of North American ISOs.

  • Broad experience, ideally with a site/field and office background.

  • Collaborative value-based attitude, balancing technical with cost, schedule, and full lifecycle asset considerations.

  • Effective communication skills to lead meetings with internal and external partners.

  • Role requires a valid drivers' license, which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire.
     

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with some field work required.

  • 10% travel, up to 25% travel during peak periods.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
