Are you ready to take on a technical leadership role that makes a real impact? In this position, you’ll leverage your expertise to provide and coordinate electrical engineering support for U.S. Gas Transmission assets and operations. Your focus will be on ensuring asset health, reliability, and the safe operation of electrical power systems. You’ll play a key role in developing and managing engineering design standards and specifications, while offering technical guidance on electrical design codes, standards, and best practices to both Operations and Project teams. What You Will Do:

Engineering Services

  • Provide development and maintenance of electrical equipment specifications, design and construction standards.

  • Provide stewardship for electrical operating/maintenance procedures, commissioning equipment checks and testing requirements.

  • Provide technical interpretations and guidance regarding standards and codes for Enbridge operations, project groups and other stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities and lead technical analysis and implementation of new technologies.

  • Provide power protection support and coordination/arc flash studies.

  • Provide leadership and technical knowledge to drive department initiatives and department development items.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction associated with asset health and reliability, asset condition-based maintenance and fleet management.

 Operations Support

  • Provide power systems engineering and technical support.

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and prepare solutions for electrical issues related to medium and high voltage electrical  assets, operating, testing and commissioning. 

  • Provide leadership for electrical system/asset reliability, quality, and electrical safety support.

  • Provide technical leadership for regional engineers, technical supervisors, contract engineers, and specialists to develop solutions to equipment and process reliability issues.

  • Drive development of asset reliability assessment and prioritization to support capital and maintenance budget development activities including Risk Register items supporting Long Range Planning and Forecasting.

  • Provide technical mentoring and training to engineers, regional technicians and other support groups.

  • Provide technical leadership for failure analyses and incident investigations.

 Project Support

  • Support technical design reviews.

  • Provide engineering expertise and participate in designs to project managers on capital projects or programs within the regions supported.

  • Provide technical review and sign-off of electrical test results.

  • Provide power protective relay commissioning support.

  • Support junior engineers in navigating complex issues solutioning regarding projects.

Who You Are:

You have the following:

Required:  

  • 4-year Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Registration as a professional engineer or the ability to obtain PE license within one year after hiring preferred.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in electrical engineering – power.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.  Candidates may be considered for appointment at a lower level commensurate with their education and experience.

Preferred:

  • Knowledgeable with regulatory and industry codes/standards, including: NFPA 70, 70E, NESC, IEEE and other applicable standards.

  • Knowledge of power systems, power system coordination and modeling.  SKM experience preferred.

  • Possess a working level knowledge of the design and operation of liquids pipelines, pump stations, terminal facilities, pipeline hydraulics, and knowledge of related technologies such as mechanical, process control systems and instrumentation.

  • Ability to perform power systems studies, apply SKM, and provide power system support for design, maintenance and solving.

  • Ability to lead efforts to solve complex technical problems and coordinate between departments and disciplines.

  • Ability to mentor less experienced engineers technically and professionally.

  • Ability to effectively interact with peers, internal partners, vendors and service providers.

  • Proven capability leads and manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing collaborator expectations.

  • Shown skills in both written and verbal communication.  Effective report composition.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office based with scheduled travel and occasional urgent response needs related to investigations or field activities.

  • Travel to work locations is expected, however short-term travel may be more frequent for incident response and/or technical support of work within the region.

  • Must be responsive and provide timely quality results appropriate to the corporate risk/urgency consequently to system incidents or asset performance inputs.

  • Company phone with afterhours regional technical support is expected.
