About the role:
The Demand Analytics team within the Business Technology and Insights group at Gartner is at the forefront of harnessing AI to better anticipate, forecast and predict the future needs of the global C-suite.
We are looking for a Senior Director who is a highly analytical problem solver, possesses hands-on experience leveraging AI / ML models and is well-versed in LLM model development / fine tuning. This individual will be a “player-coach” to members of the team in India and should be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to “get the job done” as well as leading strategic initiatives.
This role will primarily focus on managing the end-to-end life cycle of all data science and AI projects for the demand analytics team, liaising with other data science teams at Gartner to provide business context and requirements for our specific use cases and providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
What you will do:
Build expertise to be the center of excellence for Gartner’s demand sensing data science program
Pilot innovative ways to mine customer demand indicators from a variety of proprietary and publicly available sources
Build and design LLM interface that allow Gartner’s analysts to gain a better sense of client priorities
Utilize clustering and other unsupervised methods to better understand the most common journeys our c-level customers take
Coach team members to be world-class analytical experts, who can think critically and take an ambiguous business problem, break it into solvable workstreams, analyze using right quantitative models to discover meaningful patterns, insights, and information that can inform decision-making
Influence and guide stakeholders (e.g., Content Leaders, IT, Insights Strategy & Operations, and the Executive Management Team) with insights and recommendations from analysis of C-suite demand patterns
Develop and continuously improve a methodology to measure the predictive power of various proprietary and publicly available demand signals on content
Execute on the approach to deliver functionality iteratively
Take initiative to identify and roll out improvement initiatives
Own problem structuring, analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives and key, cross-organizational deliverables, partnering with stakeholders and coaching team members
What you will need:
Experience:14+ years of progressive business experience involving advanced business analytics, complex problem solving, and data science
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required with a Master’s Degree preferred. Degree with a concentration in statistics, data science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or operations research preferred
Expertise in LLMs/AI and examples of recent work involving LLMs, Agentic AI or Gen AI: Examples of recent work that leveraged Gen AI, and the tangible business impact it had to the business
Programming languages e.g., python, R, SQL
Strong grasp of common python packages including Scikit-learn, Pandas and Numpy
Mastery of various NLP transformers
Exceptional problem solving: Proven track record of solving complex problems, Critical thinking, Analytical reasoning, Innovation, and using data to influence senior level stakeholders. Demonstrated thought leadership with high business impact throughout career
Ability to build out presentations and experience with presenting to senior stakeholders
Strong technical understanding of data and skills to analyze as well as visualize it
Statistical analysis including the ability to identify patterns and trends in the data, avoid bias and apply the right models/methodologies/calculations
Attention to detail e.g., data hygiene, quality checks, documentation etc.
Rigorous prioritization and working in fast-paced environments: Track record of success in environments with competing and continuously evolving priorities
Ability to organize and oversee the work of junior team members and coach them to deliver high-quality outputs; engaging teams and key stakeholders across business functions and at all levels of the organization
Strong collaboration and influencing skills in a highly matrixed environment. Influencing stakeholders and team members based on a command of the facts, analysis, and implications
