The Sr Director, Manufacturing - Animal Nutrition position is a senior level leadership position reporting into the Vice President of Manufacturing that leads the day-to-day manufacturing operations within the Animal Nutrition Business unit of Land O’ Lakes. This strategic role will partner with the respective business unit and other supply chain functions to ensure the highest levels of employee safety, product safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and cost. Provides leadership development to their direct reporting lines, including Regional Operations Directors, Area Plant Managers, Plant Managers and support staff and must help to cultivate a motivated employee culture at union and nonunion facilities. It requires leadership in the areas of long-range strategic planning for the manufacture of Animal Nutrition products and processes, including the use of AI, automation, augmentation, data, and analytics.
This position requires 50-75% travel and we strongly prefer it be based out of the corporate office in Arden Hills, MN but are open to virtual.

Creates a culture of Ownership and team accountability at all levels of the reporting structure to support and promote team performance to deliver key strategic and operational initiatives.
Develops long range strategies and objectives across the Manufacturing organization in the areas of Safety, People, Quality, Service, Sustainability, Reliability, and Cost. Ensures Key Performance Indicators are developed, monitored, and achieved.
Ensures ownership and high executional capacity. Dynamic leadership in continuous improvement initiatives (CI) and activities to successfully meet and exceed established goals. Develops and manages budgeting and budget execution with focus on product costs and margins. Partners with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Research and Development, Marketing, and respective Business Units to drive growth and ensure the business and customer needs are being met consistently with high quality products.
Leads strategic change. Assumes ownership and sets strategic vision and capital for manufacturing infrastructure, assets, plant equipment and maintenance programs. Progress the manufacturing organization forward with implementation of AI, automation, augmentation, data, and analytics.
Requirements/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field required, MBA preferred
10+ years’ experience in Process Manufacturing, i.e. Feed, Food/Beverage, CPG, Chemical / operations management in an organization with a minimum of $500 million in sales
Previous Plant Manager experience is preferred. Multi-site responsibility also preferred.
Technical skills in lean manufacturing processes and applications, process improvement, materials management and production practices
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level
Excellent leadership, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Solid working knowledge of financial and cost management
Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office
High degree of initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability
Proven effectiveness in leading and managing others in a union or non-union environment, including union negotiation experience is preferred
Experience in manufacturing systems development and deployment
Ability to delegate and execute to achieve results, while organizing and managing multiple priorities
Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and the ability to reassess plans in the face of new information
Proven willingness to take a participatory approach to management and be a team player
Experience in Fortune 500 Companies preferred
Salary Range: $211,120 - $395,850
In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges
