POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of Field Engineering will provide strategic leadership for the field engineering organization, overseeing both internal teams and a network of service partners. This role is crucial for ensuring the delivery of exceptional service, optimizing operational efficiency, and driving revenue growth through effective partner management and internal team leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in technical program management, operational excellence, and cross-functional leadership, with a strong focus on innovation and customer success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the vision and strategy for the field engineering function, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and customer success initiatives.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of field engineering managers and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner Management: Oversee the selection, training, and performance management of service partners to ensure they align with company standards and deliver high-quality service.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish and optimize processes that enhance service delivery, ensuring that both internal and partner operations are efficient and effective.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, sales, customer success, and operations teams to ensure alignment on service offerings, customer feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performance Management: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for both internal teams and service partners to assess effectiveness and drive accountability.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as a key leader in enhancing the customer experience, ensuring that field engineers and partners are equipped to deliver value beyond traditional break-fix services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Senior leadership experience in field engineering, technical program management, or related technical services environments.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale technical programs, including lifecycle management of technology solutions for extensive fleets.
  • Proven ability to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and process improvements.  
  • Experience leading large teams and managing cross-functional initiatives in high-stakes environments.
  • Strong background in technical training, workforce development, and talent acquisition.
  • Expertise in safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, with a history of bridging communication gaps and aligning improvement activities.
  • Technical proficiency in digital tools, instrumentation, and emerging technologies relevant to field services.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across multiple business units and external partners.

  • Digital literacy and proficiency with mobile tools and knowledge management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Ability to drive change and foster a culture of innovation within the organization.
  • Experience with process and SOP development and adherence i.e. Kaizen, PDM, OSHA, and technical training programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across various functions and levels of the organization.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or equivalent level of training/experience.
  • MBA and/or Post Graduate Degree highly desired
