The Sr. Developer role leads the design and development of training solutions that support the direction of the Retail Operations Learning & Development strategic plan. In this role you’re asked to assess learning objectives of individual training campaigns programs, then provide tactical solutions that deliver measurable results.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
As a Sr. Developer, you will lead the creation and execution of learning solutions that drive performance and support the strategic direction of Retail Operations. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partnering Across the Business
Collaborate with stakeholders across Retail Stores, the Customer Experience Center (CEC), and subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess learning and communication needs. Translate these needs into innovative, scalable training solutions that align with business goals and operational realities. - Instructional Design Leadership
Serve as a thought leader in instructional design and content development. Apply adult learning principles and creative design strategies to build engaging, effective learning experiences—both digital and instructor-led—that support associate development and business transformation. - Project Management & Execution
Design, maintain, and execute detailed project plans that provide clear visibility into timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Ensure alignment with broader deployment strategies and proactively manage risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations. - Learning Deployment & Measurement
Support the deployment of learning programs through the company’s Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring seamless delivery, accessibility, and tracking. Leverage analytics to measure training effectiveness and continuously improve learning outcomes. - Content Integration & Sustainment
Integrate content from multiple sources—including other developers, business partners, and existing assets—into cohesive learning journeys. Ensure content is current, relevant, and aligned with evolving business priorities. Contribute to sustainment strategies that reinforce learning post-launch. - Consultation & Enablement
Act as a strategic consultant to business leaders, helping them identify performance gaps and learning opportunities. Provide guidance on training technologies, deployment models, and change enablement tactics that support associate readiness and operational excellence.
Purpose of the role
As a Sr. Developer, you are a key architect of learning experiences that empower associates and drive operational excellence. You design and implement the structure of both online and instructor-led courses using advanced eLearning tools and instructional applications. Through either informal or formal intake processes, you document the requested requirements for the course, including content that has been created by other developers, and design and code the lessons.
Qualifications and Requirements
To excel in this role, you bring a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and strong organizational skills:
- Technical Proficiency in eLearning Tools and Systems, including but not limited to:
- Adobe Suite: Captivate, Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere Pro
- Articulate Suite: Storyline and Rise
- Vyond: Animation software
- Final Cut Pro or similar video editing tools
- Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
- Core Competencies:
- Results Focus: Strong planning and execution capabilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously along with advanced time management skills to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Analysis & Decision Making: The ability to leverage technology to solve complex learning, development or skills opportunities.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and SMEs including the ability to influence up to Managers, Sr. Managers and above.
