We are seeking a Sr CSSO to join a team in Laurel, MD. The experienced Sr. CSSO will be a strategic position to lead the efforts of security for a prime contract. The Sr CSSO will oversee and drive compliance and communication internally with the government customer. The Sr CSSO will also focus on security regulations, manage clearance processing for candidates and employees, support new hires through every stage of the security onboarding lifecycle, and design a security focused internal employee onboarding process. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of internal personnel security and clearance processing (initial, reinvestigation, interviews, upgrades, downgrades, incident, and terminations).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal security personnel while communicating and coordinating with the government customer on all onboarding and processing requirements. 
  • Implement onboarding workflows tailored to security requirements, ensuring compliance with NISPOM, DCSA, and client-specific protocols.
  • Maintain and update clearance records by using record systems such as DISS, e-QIP, Scatted Kastles, JPAS, and other government platforms.
  • Coordinate with the hiring manager, recruiters, internal security, and HR to ensure security related information is communicated and processed seamlessly.
  • Track and manage Periodic Reinvestigations (PRs), clearance expirations, trainings, and eligibility status.
  • Ensure proper documentation and procedural adherence for all security-related actions.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with internal/ external inspections to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and candidates on security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Liaise with government security representatives and contracting officers for all related security information. 
  • Conduct security interviews.
  • Guide candidates and provide ongoing support and direction during the security processing lifecycle.
  • Report directly to the program manager.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in personnel security within a government contracting or defense environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of NISPOM, DCSA requirements, and federal clearance systems (DISS, e-QIP, SWFT).
  • Experience designing onboarding processes and managing full-cycle clearance activities.
  • Exceptional organizational, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required.

Desired Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Security Officer, FSO, or CSSO in a cleared facility.
  • Experience supporting multiple contracts and agencies (DoD, IC, DHS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with JPAS (legacy), NBIS transition, and insider threat programs.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
