Job Description:
The Sr Corporate Accountant is a key member of the Americas accounting team responsible for participating in and supporting the global accounting team in monthly financial processes including the month end closing, account reconciliations, accounting analysis, journal entries and providing audit support. In addition, this position will also be responsible for working with our 3rd party accounting firm to oversee the month closing process for Costa Rica and Brazil as well as support our payroll function. Additional interactions will include working with Procurement, Treasury and Tax for local matters.
The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) under either US or local GAAP is essential as well as an understanding of local payroll, taxes, and banking processes is also beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the Americas monthly close process.
Prepare monthly account analysis including explanations of significant account variances,
Partner with Treasury, Tax, and Procurement for local compliance and support.
Partner with HR/Payroll for local payroll matters and assistance as required.
Support external audits through preparation of schedules and documentation.
Review, launch, and approve vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and tax obligations.
Responsible for Free Trade Zone reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
4+ years of professional accounting experience
Working knowledge of US GAAP and/or local statutory requirements.
Advanced Excel skills a plus
Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes and communicate across cultures and departments.
Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
High integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and across time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or equivalent a plus
Global company experience preferred
Knowledge of local Payroll compliance a plus
Experience with Workday (preferred) or an equivalent ERP a plus
Portuguese, in addition to English and Spanish
Work Location & Flexibility
This position is based in our Heredia, Costa Rica office and follows a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to work on-site a minimum of one day per week. Please note that specific business units or role requirements may require additional in-office days based on team collaboration needs or operational priorities.
