Job Description

As a Senior Contracts Specialist, you will support the BioProduction Group (BPG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific by negotiating a variety of customer-facing agreements globally. Crucial Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and review a mix of contractual agreements, encompassing standard and specialized types such as Master Supply Agreements, Letter Agreements, and more. The agreements may range in complexity from moderate to challenging.
  • Lead or participate in the contract negotiation process and collaborate through contentious issues at multiple levels both internally and with the customer, keeping risk exposure in mind.
  • Be fully accountable for the outcome of the negotiated agreement and ensure conformity with business needs, accurate risk allocation, and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Possess a pragmatic grasp of the legal, financial, regulatory, and business risk associated with contract terms and conditions, and effectively communicate these risks to company decision-makers.
  • Understand commercial sales basics such as pricing, delivery, warranty, and payment terms, as well as legal terms regarding liability issues, including indemnification, insurance, and limitation of liability.
  • Interface efficiently with internal partners and customers to influence and provide directions to guide the contracting process. 
  • Apply approval authority matrix for agreement type using corporate guidelines and advance/route agreements as needed.
  • Suggest varying contract terms that meet the company's requirements in cases where customer and company terms differ. Develop choices and answers to resolve deadlocks that are satisfactory to all involved parties.
  • Collaborate with different teams such as sales, order management, legal, finance, etc. within BPG and throughout the entire Thermo Fisher Scientific organization.
  • Support Practical Process Improvement methodology and participate in initiatives as required.
  • Maintain and use SFDC to handle contract lifecycle and contractual obligations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or legal-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) of demonstrated ability in contracts negotiation.
  • Good judgment in balancing business and commercial needs and potential risks/exposures with customer requests.
  • Experience in Life Sciences and/or Healthcare manufacturing industries desired.
  • Effective project management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within tight schedules, both independently and as part of a team. Strong social skills with a collaborative/integrative style of working to reach common goals and objectives.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $112,500.00–$169,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
