Data Center Support Duties:

  • Consists of site-specific tasks necessary to keep the Data Center running without interruption.
  • Manages day-to-day functions including interfacing with Workload Performance Reporting (WPR), environment management, process enforcement, and optimization. Manages outside services team.
  • A monthly meeting will be held with the client IT Manager(s)/Technical Leader(s) and operations team members responsible for the datacenter. The purpose of this meeting is to plan Data Center development and deal with issues in and around the datacenter.
  • Regularly verify stock levels of consumable items (patch cables, power strips, etc) are sufficient.
  •  Order supplies if stock falls below an agreed level. Maintain general tidiness of inventory (racks, tools etc.) Manage storage rooms.
  • Plan developments, deal with issues and work with WPR

 Policy and process enforcement:

  • Access coordination for all vendors/contractors (Telecom vendors into Telco and similar rooms, as well as vendors resources such as EMC, NetApp. IBM etc.) Manages Data Center physical security and provides access to Data Centers for approved Change Requests (CR), incidents, break fix activities, etc.
  • Maintains compliance for Data Center physical access audits;  Activities include vendor id verification

Break-Fix Support:

  • Provide warranty and out-of-warranty repair for devices (OEM standard, enhanced, post-warranty).
  • Dispatch technical support for Hardware Break-Fix during support hours.
  • Troubleshoot issues; escalate to OEM or third-party as needed.
  • Process warranty claims through OEM systems when applicable.
  • Test device functionality and network connectivity post-repair.
  • Obtain user acceptance and close service request ticket.
  • Manage and coordinate all Change Request for the client, ensuring all approvals for requested changes are obtained, and all relevant policies are followed.  Activities include:
     • Attend all Change Review Boards
     • Ensuring all affected parties are notified.
     • Close out all Changes as they are implemented.

On-Site Software Support:

  • Provide a software support Resource to the Customer Site (where the Device on which the software resides is located.
  • Troubleshoot Issues to resolve or Escalate to Resolver Group specialists.
  • Test for functionality, network connectivity, and access to Customer’s infrastructure as applicable.

Installations, Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMACS):

  • Provide IMACD Services for properly authorized and completed IMACD Service Requests.
  • Respond to User questions on an IMACD Service Request. Coordinate with Customer personnel and applicable Customer Third Parties concerning scheduling and requirements.

Hands and Eyes Support (for Network devices, Storage, Rack and stack devices):

• Asset Management:   Verify make, model, serial number, asset tag, and location of decommissioning hardware from requester’s list.

• Hardware decommissioning CR approval must be verified

• Un-rack hardware and accessories from the rack

• Ensure device data, and patching data, are updated/deleted in their databases/tools

• Ensure the decom request is properly closed out

• Receiving RMA hardware or spare parts and replacing them or coordinating with respective hardware vendors to break fix the hardware issues

• Power cycling the hardware etc

• Other tasks as required by Client.

• Installing Patch cables as clients request, and routing properly and label them

• Connections included patching of server/appliance into appropriate patch panel, patching on patch fields, and/or SDF to switches.

• Escorting and assisting Hardware vendor / service provider etc. (Incident / break-fix task)

• Power Cycling/managing power tasks

• Providing local hands-on support for scheduled power maintenance or shutdown activities using the defined Data Center protocol document for planned shutdowns. Also providing local onsite support in case of any unplanned emergency outage scenario.
